Need an advance? Dutch Technology raises the threshold for Daltons

Almost everyone needs an advance at some time in their lives but according to leading Dutch Vertical Panel Saw manufacturer Elcon and their UK distributor Daltons an 'advance' of a less obvious kind is nothing far short of essential to anyone contemplating the purchase of vertical panel cutting equipment, particularly where panels are being cut in more than one dimension and where speed of operation is paramount.

Sean Taylor of Daltons, a leading exponent of the technical merits of Elcon panel cutting equipment, adjusts the controls of a 215DSXE.

The all new advance clamping system introduced by Elcon also provides an improved contribution to Health and Safety in that panels are held securely during cutting avoiding the possibility of components falling onto the sawblade and eliminated the strain on machine operators thereby obviating the need to remove heavy panels from the machine and replace them in between cuts. Basically a panel or uniquely a number of panels can be cut on four sides without the need to remove them between cuts. The operation is executed automatically and can also be programmable. This feature enables the machine to be worked in a similar way to a Beam Saw but with the benefit of occupying minimum floor space. The advance system can also be worked in conjunction with programmable strip cutting, auto positioning and automatic rotation of the saw unit.

These features, coupled with other user friendly devices now offered by Elcon which include digital readouts to horizontal and vertical saw movements, power operation to the saw movements, extra deep (80 mm) cutting capacity, Limpio and Semi-Limpio dust extraction systems and new designed scoring unit ensure that Elcon machines are firmly established as both market leaders and pioneers in machine design and development.

Sole UK distributors Daltons are keen to highlight the technical developments relating to what they consider to be an exciting and ever evolving product and at their Nottingham showrooms will be found examples of machines with the advance system and many of the other features available in sizes from 135 (capacity 2550 x 1350 mm) to 215 (capacity 4300 x 2150 mm). These machines are normally on permanent display and available for demonstration and the company regard the Elcon brand as a highly important part of their expanding portfolio of equipment.

Daltons have been among the leading suppliers in the UK of Vertical Panel Saws for many years now but speaking to Sales Director Andy Walsh and product specialist Sean Taylor it is quite obvious that it is ever 'onwards and upwards' as far as they are concerned and the target is an expansion of sales in both the UK and Ireland.

Sean Taylor who comes from a wood machining background is particularly enthusiastic about the design and specification of these latest Panel Saws. He recently spent a number of days at the Elcon manufacturing plant in Leimuiden, Holland, and returned with glowing reports regarding the research and development being applied to the Panel Saws, so much so that he has now adopted principal responsibility for sales and marketing. In truth of course these duties will be shared by the rest of the team starting with Andy Walsh and also including long standing Daltons sales representative Geoff Rowell, Alex Dalton and the most recent addition to the team Tony Owens.

Francis Dalton commented "We are convinced that we have the best product, experience tells us that it is highly saleable and with the new features which I am sure everyone is going to want before too long, the enthusiasm of our sales team and the backup and after-sales facilities which we can offer we are confident of raising sales performance to even higher levels".
