Daltons provide Stenners in multiple for East Anglian timber suppliers
Old established Norwich and Great Yarmouth based timber suppliers A & W Cushion Ltd once again put their faith in Nottingham based distributor Daltons when they became aware of the need to update or replace their existing sawing capacity.
The company already had an established working relationship with Daltons going back a number of years and therefore had no hesitation in calling up Daltons Sales Director Andy Walsh. He immediately travelled to Norfolk to look at Cushions existing Stenner Band Resaws which although still giving good service had been in use for many years and were in need of modification to conform with current Health and Safety/PUWER legislation.

Having been well pleased with the performance of their existing Stenner equipment Cushions were keen to re-invest in the latest technology from this premier UK manufacturer and as Daltons are the main distributors for Stenner Stand-Alone Resaws a solution to Cushions’ problem was quickly reached
Cushions, who supply both hard and softwoods to a large part of East Anglia, are already 175 years old and the family have so far been represented by six generations. Cedric Copping is the current MD assisted by fellow director Chris Hammond and now also by his son Dominic. The company have purchased many machines from Daltons over recent years, principally of UK manufacture, and these include Wadkin 6-Head Planer/Moulders, Crosscut Saws, Planer/Thicknessers, 4-Side Planer, etc, plus two of the Dutch built Elcon Vertical Panel Saws for which Daltons are sole UK distributors.

The company, which occupies a large site close to the centre of Norwich as well as a second mill at the nearby port of Great Yarmouth, enjoy an excellent relationship with Daltons now incidentally in their 105th year! Andy Walsh has the greatest of respect for Cushions, both as a long standing business and a top Daltons’ customer and does not need to be asked twice when asked to visit the Norwich mill to provide assistance or advice.
Daltons have now put in two new Stenner ST100 Resaws and two of the smaller ST80 models and Cushions are delighted with the performance and safety features provided by this ‘state of the art’ equipment.
