Daltons "Flagship" Planer/Moulder Installation
Leading UK timber products manufacturer F W Mason and Company Limited have installed a new Kuper 6-Head Planing and Moulding Machine at their Colwick, Nottingham, production unit. Supplied by sole UK distributor Daltons the machine was required to provide additional capacity coupled with high quality finish to an already highly mechanised facility.

Experienced Production Manager Steve Newbold, something of an expert when it comes to planing and moulding (they already have 19 Planer/Moulders on their site!) spent considerable time researching the market before purchasing, including a visit to Ligna where he was able to discuss the merits of the Kuper range with the manufacturers. After further discussions with Daltons Sales Director Andy Walsh and visits to see the Kuper moulders in their Nottingham showroom the decision was taken to purchase a Kuper SWTXL6 high specification 6-head machine incorporating the latest Semens Simatic touch screen controls with memory feature and 8000 rpm spindle speeds. This was subsequently installed and commissioned by Daltons engineers in conjunction with technicians from Germany.
Steve commented “So far the Kuper machine has fully met our expectations. It is producing high quality work on a daily basis and I am sure it will prove to be a valuable addition to our machining capability.”
Daltons offer a comprehensive range of Kuper Planer/Moulders from 5-head joinery specification machines through to bespoke high production models incorporating up to 12 heads and fully jointed 320 mm capacity machines for sawmills and timber importers. The company have already achieved a number of successful installations in the UK and are showing a model XLS6 6-head machine at the Woodworking Ireland Exhibition in Dublin in September.
