Award from UKWoodchain for Daltons
First amongst Nottinghamshire companies, long established woodworking machine distributors and manufacturers Daltons received their learning company status award on 23 January.

The presentation to Francis Dalton was made by Jeff Braham, Head of Academic Partnerships (UK) University of Derby at Daltons Nottingham showrooms. Daltons are working to provide certification based qualification to recognised standards to both private and public sectors throughout the UK.
The award, by UKWoodchain, places the company firmly among the front runners of the UK wood industries and signals to staff and customers alike that Daltons are equipped to help them gain a competitive edge.
Employers, training suppliers and publishers across the UK can apply for the award but have to meet strict criteria and must provide evidence each year to retain the coveted status of a Learning Company. Standards of service are assessed and reviewed by panels of employers to make sure businesses in the wood sector can quickly find quality training and effective training materials. Resulting from the awards Daltons activities will now feature in UKWoodchain’s on-line register, open to companies worldwide that want to compete better in their chosen markets.
Peter Harland, the pioneering chairman of UKWoodchain, congratulated Francis and Nigel Dalton on their company’s successful application, adding, “Every quality business in the wood industries sector has a right to know where it can find dependable and effective training supplies - just as every recruit should be able to find a quality employer. This dual award recognises that you are making serious contributions to establishing professionalism across our sector.”
